There are many, many options for a small bite while wandering around the gorgeous city of Amsterdam. Here are a few:
Fresh herring with onions and pickle. I love these little sandwiches, but beware if you don't like slimey things...
Patat frites. Necessary to have sate sauce AND mayonaise. These were from Ten Have (not as good as the Sausmeesters, but historically a part of my stomach.)
Bitterballen. Basically like little fried balls of beef stroganoff (without the noodles) served with mustard. Some places serve them with Dutch cheese as well; a nice thing to soak up beer in the late afternoon.
